Wael Almazeedi is the Co-founder and CEO, AIIONA Arabia for Alternative Energy (advisory firm) and Avance Labs (global hydrogen accelerator). He is also a Member, Kuwait Energy Transition Committee, and the General Secretariate of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development.

Wael has over 25 years of industry experience in energy and infrastructure acquired while working for Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (1984-1990); the World Bank Group (1993-97); BTU Ventures (1999-2011), an infrastructure private equity firm; and since 2012, FATE Consortium, a collaborative energy technology platform. Much of Wael’s experience was acquired while stationed in (in alphabetic order): Boston, Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuwait, London, Yokohama, and Washington D.C. He was also awarded the 2006 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year™ Award in the energy category for the New England region of the USA.

He has several authorships under his name having been the lead author on the Kuwait Hydrogen White Paper/Preliminary Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap (2019-2021), the coordinating author of “Roadmap for an Inclusive Customer-facing Hydrogen Ecosystem to Expedite the Energy Transition,” in T-20 Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2020), and will be an author for a MENA Hydrogen Chapter in a Book (forthcoming) titled: “Saudi Arabia and the Hydrogen Economy: Domestic and International Opportunities,” sponsored by King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
